# Alaska Division of Elections > [!note] Stub > This is a short entry that hasn't been fully written yet. The state agency that administers elections in Alaska, including the state's nonpartisan top-four primary, its ranked-choice general election, and the certification of results. Two 2026 matters put it on this site. In June 2026 the Division moved to strike a second candidate named Dan Sullivan from the primary ballot on the ground that his candidacy existed to confuse voters; Alaska's courts overruled it and he stayed on. Four months later the [[Department of Justice]] sued the Division in [[United States v. State of Alaska]], asking a federal court to stop it from certifying the U.S. Senate result if [[Mary Peltola]] won — the same ballot-confusion premise the Division had lost on, now pressed by the federal government against the Division itself. ## See Also - [[United States v.
