# AI Accountability Super PAC
An independent-expenditure-only committee that registered with the FEC on **2026-09-14** and has done
nothing since. It is on this page because new super-PAC formations are in scope for the whole
2026-09-04 → 2026-11-04 midterm money window, and because its name stakes a claim in a fight the vault
already tracks — not because it has moved any money. **It has not.**
> [!warning] Four facts, and that is the entire page
> Everything below comes from a single Form 1. There is **no** press coverage, **no** disclosed funder,
> **no** stated program, **no** named race and **no** money. The name is suggestive and the name is not
> evidence. Resist inferring a position, a backer or a target from it.
## What is actually on file
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| FEC ID | **C00961557** |
| Type | Super PAC (independent-expenditure-only), unauthorized |
| Registered | **2026-09-14** (Form 1, file 2011881, amendment indicator N) |
| Treasurer and custodian of records | **John Fernandez** |
| Address | 400 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA 95814 |
| Filing frequency | Quarterly — first receipts disclosure would be due **October 15, 2026** |
| Party affiliation on file | None, as is standard for an IE-only committee |
| Receipts disclosed | **$0** |
| Disbursements disclosed | **$0** |
| Schedule E line items | **0** |
| Total filings to date | **1** — the Form 1 itself |
Re-verified against OpenFEC on **2026-09-22**: the committee's filing history is still exactly one
document, its Schedule E count is still zero, and `/committee/C00961557/totals/` returns no rows at all.
**Eight days, no second filing.**
> [!note] What the address does and does not tell you
> 400 Capitol Mall is a large downtown Sacramento office tower directly across from the California
> State Capitol. A Sacramento address rather than a Washington, Delaware or Nevada one is *consistent*
> with a California-legislative or California-delegation orientation. It is not proof of one, and the
> vault should not write that it is.
## Why the vault is tracking a committee with no money
Because of where the name points. The 2026 AI-policy money map already has two sides in it:
| Vehicle | Type | Position | Disclosed |
|---|---|---|---|
| [[Leading the Future]] | Super PAC | Pro-preemption; blocking state AI law | $125M+ raised |
| [[Alliance for a Better Future]] | EC filer | Anti-preemption; child safety, labor, federalism | $3.83M spent |
| **AI Accountability Super PAC** | Super PAC | **Unknown** | **$0** |
| [[Fairshake PAC]] | Super PAC | Crypto template both sides are copying | — |
An "accountability"-named committee most naturally reads as a counterweight to [[Leading the Future]].
But [[Alliance for a Better Future]] already occupies that ground, with money and a coalition, and the
two are unconnected (below). A third entrant could be a Democratic-side vehicle, a single-donor
project, or a name reserved and never used. **All three remain live possibilities.**
### It is not connected to Alliance for a Better Future
The 2026-09-17 sweep asked whether the two shared an officer, vendor or funder, since the names point
the same direction. Checked 2026-09-22: **they share nothing.**
| | AI Accountability Super PAC | [[Alliance for a Better Future]] |
|---|---|---|
| FEC type | Super PAC (IE-only) | Electioneering communication filer |
| Registered | 2026-09-14 | First filed 2026-09-16 |
| Address | 400 Capitol Mall, Sacramento, CA | 614 N Dupont Hwy Ste 210, Dover, DE |
| Treasurer / custodian | John Fernandez | Cassidy King, Crosby Ottenhoff Group, Mountain Brook, AL |
| Officers | None disclosed | Janet Kelly, CEO |
| Vendors | None | M2 Placement, Ascent Media LLC |
| Funders | None disclosed | None disclosed |
No overlap on any axis. Absent contrary evidence, **treat them as unrelated organizations that chose
adjacent names.**
## Watch triggers
- **Any filing beyond the Form 1.** This trigger was set on 2026-09-15 and has not fired through
2026-09-22. A first Form 24, a Form 3X, or an amendment naming officers all convert this stub into a
real page.
- **October 15** — its first quarterly receipts report would be due. If it files a report showing zero,
that is itself informative; if it never files, the registration was speculative.
- **Any officer, vendor or funder overlap with [[Alliance for a Better Future]] or [[Leading the Future]].**
> [!note] Stub, and deliberately so
> Created 2026-09-22 from the 2026-09-15 midterm money sweep. It was proposed as a thin page precisely
> because there is nothing to say yet. **If it still has one filing and zero dollars after October 15,
> consider whether this page should exist at all** — a registration that never becomes a committee is
> vault clutter, not intelligence.
