# Kanye West — Twitter, October 8, 2022 — "death con 3" The post in which **Ye (Kanye West) vowed to go "death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,"** triggering account lock-and-removal by Twitter and the collapse of his major brand partnerships (Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga). Posted October 8, 2022; removed by Twitter on October 9. This file captures the post as artifact. The paired Quote file [[Kanye West - death con 3]] handles the verbatim text and the DEFCON reference. ## Artifact properties | Property | Value | |---|---| | Posted | 2022-10-08 | | Removed | 2022-10-09 (Twitter locked account, removed post) | | Account | `@kanyewest`, Twitter | | Key line | "going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE" | | Platform action | Account locked; post removed ([[Instagram]] restricted days earlier) | | Business fallout | Adidas ends Yeezy deal; Gap, Balenciaga, others sever ties | ## Why it matters as a Social Post **1. The removal-and-fallout chain is the artifact.** What makes this a media-studies object is the documented consequence cascade: platform takedown within ~24 hours, then the fastest celebrity de-platforming-by-advertisers of the era. The post connects directly to a quantifiable economic collapse (the Adidas split alone). **2. A mainstreaming node.** As a coordination/escalation marker, it sits inside the 2022 antisemitism cycle that continued into Ye's dinner with [[Donald Trump]] and [[Nick Fuentes]] weeks later — making it a useful anchor for tracking how the cycle moved from a celebrity post into electoral-adjacent spaces. **3. Sensitive-content artifact.** It documents an eliminationist antisemitic threat; the factual treatment of the bigotry lives at [[Antisemitism]]. ## Related entries - [[Kanye West - death con 3]] — paired Quote - [[Antisemitism]] - [[Nick Fuentes]] — co-figure in the subsequent Trump dinner cycle - [[Twitter]] — the venue ## Followup TODOs - **Capture archive_url** — news captures (post removed by platform). - **Cross-link** a future Social Post for the November 2022 Trump–Ye–Fuentes dinner (optional-reach item in the buildout plan).
