# City Journal
City Journal is a quarterly magazine published by the [[Manhattan Institute]], a center-right think tank. Founded in 1990, it covers urban policy, education, policing, and cultural issues from a conservative perspective and has been particularly influential in shaping right-of-center discourse on crime, welfare reform, and the "broken windows" theory of policing.
In recent years City Journal has become a leading outlet for opposition to [[DEI]], [[Critical Race Theory]], and what its writers frame as institutional capture by progressive ideology—themes central to the broader [[Culture War]]. Its contributors have included prominent [[Neoconservatism]] voices and its articles circulate widely in the conservative [[Media Ecosystem]], giving the Manhattan Institute's policy positions a public-facing editorial vehicle.
