# Tsargrad TV
**Tsargrad TV** is a Russian Orthodox-nationalist media outlet founded on April 12, 2015 and owned by sanctioned financier [[Konstantin Malofeev]]. It is the media arm of Malofeev's monarchist-Orthodox network, and was built with help from a former Fox News director.
## Founding
[[Alexander Dugin]] was its chief editor in 2015. Jack Hanick, a former [[Fox News]] director, moved to Moscow in 2013 to help launch the channel; he was indicted in March 2022 for violating U.S. sanctions, which Wikipedia describes as a first-of-its-kind criminal sanctions case *[single-sourced]*. Malofeev described Tsargrad as a Russian equivalent of Fox News.
## U.S. right guests
Wikipedia reports that [[Alex Jones]] appears frequently and links the channel to [[Steve Bannon]], [[Richard Spencer]] and [[Milo Yiannopoulos]] *[single-sourced]*.
## Sanctions
Malofeev was sanctioned by the U.S., EU and Canada in 2014. YouTube blocked the channel in July 2020, citing those sanctions. On April 20, 2022 the U.S. Treasury designated Tsargrad OOO, the Tsargrad Society and the Katehon think tank (founded 2016); the U.K. followed on May 4, 2022, and the EU sanctioned the channel in December 2023. Google sued Tsargrad in U.S. court in August 2024.
## RWKB angle
Tsargrad is where [[Eurasianism]], Russian Orthodox monarchism and the American alt-right media circuit have physically overlapped — the Kremlin-adjacent end of [[International Far-Right Networks]].
