# Radix Journal
Radix Journal is a white nationalist publication launched by [[Richard Spencer]] as an imprint of Washington Summit Publishers, the race-science publishing house Spencer also ran. Alongside Spencer's [[National Policy Institute]], Radix served as a flagship intellectual organ of the "alt-right" during its 2012–2017 peak, packaging white nationalism and "human biodiversity" (an alt-right euphemism for scientific racism) in a pseudo-academic register.
## Profile
Radix published essays, books, and a podcast. Contributors over the years included [[Peter Brimelow]], [[Sam Francis]], [[Kevin MacDonald]], [[Jared Taylor]], Kerry Bolton, and William Regnery II — a roster that maps the overlap between paleoconservatism, race science, and the emerging alt-right. The site's last article appeared in April 2021 and its last podcast in September 2021; the domain went offline in 2023. Spencer subsequently relaunched "Radix Journal" as a Substack in 2022, later rebranding it as ALEXANDRIA.
## The DeAnna Connection
[[Kevin DeAnna]], writing under the pen name "Gregory Hood," was a frequent Radix contributor. Most notably, in 2015 he used the platform to urge the white nationalist movement to back Donald Trump — arguing that while "ultimately... this is a sideshow" relative to building "our own institutions, markets, and tribes," electoral politics would affect the movement whether it engaged or not. That pro-Trump posture is part of what made DeAnna a logical interlocutor when [[Peter Thiel]] hosted him for dinner in July 2016.
