# Federal Judicial Center
The research and education agency of the federal courts, established by Congress in 1967. It runs judicial training, publishes the reference works federal judges actually use, maintains the historical records of the branch, and produces the empirical research that the rules advisory committees cite when they propose amendments.
Its board is chaired by the Chief Justice and includes the Director of the [[Administrative Office of the United States Courts]].
*Stub — expand with the 1967 enabling statute, the board composition, the Manual for Complex Litigation, and the role of the Center in the multidistrict-litigation and mass-tort research the Civil Rules committee relies on.*
