# TVA
The **Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)** is the [[New Deal]] government corporation that generates and sells electricity across seven southeastern states, manages the Tennessee River system, and pursues regional development. The largest public power provider in the U.S., it is self-funding through power sales.
For the KB, the TVA is a periodic **privatization** candidate (proposals to sell it date back decades) and a venue for the energy-direction fight — its mix of coal, gas, nuclear, and renewables, and its board appointments, make it a federal lever on regional energy policy.
