# Presidential Personnel Office
**Status: stub — expand.**
The Executive Office of the President unit that recruits, vets and clears appointees for roughly **4,000 politically appointed positions** across the federal government — the ones a president fills without civil-service competition, of which around 1,200 require Senate confirmation. It is the least-covered and most consequential staffing body in the executive branch: it decides who is even considered.
In the second Trump administration the PPO became the instrument of loyalty-based staffing. **[[Sergio Gor]]** ran it from January 20 to October 13, 2025, with a pre-inauguration team that reportedly included **[[Charlie Kirk]]** administering loyalty tests for government positions; **[[Dan Scavino]]** took it over in October 2025, holding it alongside the deputy chief of staff portfolio. Its work is the personnel counterpart to **[[Schedule F]]**, which converts career positions into at-will ones for the PPO to fill.
