# EEOC The **Equal Employment Opportunity Commission** is the federal agency that enforces workplace anti-discrimination law. It was created by Title VII of the [[Civil Rights Act of 1964]] and opened in 1965. It is run by a five-member bipartisan commission and a General Counsel who litigates in federal court. In the vault, it currently appears as the plaintiff in *EEOC v. Tesla* (N.D. Cal., filed 2023). That case alleges racial harassment of Black workers at [[Tesla]]'s Fremont factory, and the two sides entered private mediation in 2026. See the Fremont section of the Tesla page and [[Diaz v.
