# Congressional Committees Tree An ASCII-art map of the standing and select/special committees of both chambers in the **119th Congress** (Republican majority in both House and Senate), with each committee's **Chair (C)**, **Ranking Member / minority lead (RM)**, and **Vice Chair (VC)** where one formally exists. Party and home state are given in parentheses. Because Republicans hold both chambers, every Chair is a Republican and every Ranking Member is a Democrat (or an Independent who caucuses with the Democrats — Bernie Sanders). > [!note] How to read the Vice Chair line > Most committees have **no** formal vice chair. Two Senate committees — **Appropriations** and **Intelligence** — title their *minority* lead "Vice Chair(man)" instead of "Ranking Member," so on those two the VC and the minority lead are the same person.
