# Japanese Influence > [!note] Scope > This page covers **Japan's influence operations directed at the United States** — lobbying, funding, information operations and elite capture. > For the country itself see [[Japan]]. For its history see [[Japanese History Hub]]. **Japan** is a treaty ally of the United States and the host of the only forward-deployed U.S. Navy carrier strike group in the world, based at Yokosuka. Under sustained pressure to expand domestic defense production, Japan has become a target market for U.S. defense-tech firms — including [[Anduril]], which in 2026 was in talks to acquire [[Nissan]]'s shuttered Oppama plant near Yokosuka to build drones domestically (see [[Anduril Nissan Oppama Plant Acquisition Talks]]) and built a Japanese-components-only prototype drone, "Kizuna," to meet local-content requirements. ## See Also - [[Anduril]] - [[Anduril Nissan Oppama Plant Acquisition Talks]] - [[United States Navy]]
