# Timashev 5M to V PAC September 2026
On **September 14, 2026**, [[Ratmir Timashev]] gave **$5,000,000.00** to [[V PAC Victors Not Victims]],
the Republican super PAC supporting [[Vivek Ramaswamy]] for governor of Ohio. It is his **second**
contribution of that size to the committee, and it takes him to **$10,000,000.00** for the cycle — from a
standing start, having made no political contributions in Ohio or at the federal level before 2026.

= **$10,000,000.00**. The row carries no memo flag on field 42, so it is live money rather than a restated
attribution.
## Who he is
Timashev left Russia after the collapse of the Soviet Union to study at **Ohio State University** and built
most of his fortune through **Veeam**, the data-backup software company he co-founded. In 2023 he gave Ohio
State **$110 million** for its Center for Software Innovation — the largest single gift in the university's
history — and he has said publicly that he wants to bring a hundred AI startups to Columbus and make Ohio's
capital "the next Silicon Valley."
**He was not a political donor.** Per the *Ohio Capital Journal*, he had made **no** political contributions
in Ohio or at the federal level before the second quarter of 2026. The $10,000,000.00 recorded here is his
entire disclosed political giving, and all of it is in one race.
## Why it matters
**This is a new tech fortune entering electoral politics at the state level, and it entered at eight
figures.** The vault's coverage of tech money in the 2026 cycle has run mainly through federal vehicles —
the Fairshake network, Leading the Future, [[Public First]]-side AI money. Timashev is a different shape: a
single-state, single-race, single-committee donor whose stated interest is the economic development of the
state whose governorship he is helping to buy. The Columbus AI-startup ambition and the gubernatorial
spending are the same project described two ways, and the governor's office is the instrument.
**Together with [[Jeff Yass]] at $30,000,000.00, two men account for the large majority of the committee.**
In July, press reporting put five named billionaires — Yass, Timashev, [[Elon Musk]], [[Bill Ackman]] and
[[Ross Stevens]] — at a combined $37 million, more than 88% of V-PAC's funding. The Q3 report adds
$15,000,000.00 from two of those five and no new name at or above the $1,000,000.00 floor.
**The late-disclosure pattern applies here too.** The money arrived in mid-September and was not public
until **October 15**, because the committee files quarterly. See
[[Yass 10M to V PAC August 2026]] for the same mechanism at twice the size.
