# Rydin 6M to Freedom Caucus Fund
The **[[Freedom Caucus Fund]]** (FEC **C00552851**), the election committee of the
**[[House Freedom Caucus]]**, itemised two payments from **[[Michael Rydin]]** on its September 2026
monthly report — file **2031726**, received 2026-10-20.
| Date | Amount | Line | Memo text on the row |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-09-15 | $2,000,000.00 | `SA17` | NON-CONTRIBUTION ACCOUNT |
| 2026-09-21 | $4,000,000.00 | `SA17` | NON-CONTRIBUTION ACCOUNT |
| **total** | **$6,000,000.00** | | |
He is filed as `RYDIN, MICHAEL T`, prefix MR., 5500 Holly St, Houston TX, occupation and employer both
**RETIRED**.
> [!note] What line 17 means here
> Both rows sit on **Line 17, Other Federal Receipts**, and the committee's own memo text reads
> "NON-CONTRIBUTION ACCOUNT." The Freedom Caucus Fund is a hybrid committee, which keeps a separate
> account for money it may spend on independent expenditure but not give to candidates. This is money
> into that account, which is why it is not an itemised contribution and why its size is lawful.
### The committee's month
| Line | Figure |
|---|---|
| Cash on hand, 2026-09-01 | $593,848.34 |
| Total receipts | **$6,570,718.33** |
| Total disbursements | $6,372,965.26 |
| Cash on hand, 2026-09-30 | $791,601.41 |
**He is 91.31% of it.** Everything else the committee took in September, from every other source, is
about $571,000.
## Why it matters
**It makes one person the Freedom Caucus's election budget.** The [[House Freedom Caucus]] is the
organised hard-right bloc in the House; its electoral arm spent $6.37 million in September, overwhelmingly
on supporting its own members' re-election. On this month's figures that programme has one funder.
**The money is traceable and the funder is not.** Every dollar is named, dated and public. The person
behind it is listed as retired with no employer, has no confirmed identification on this site, and does
not appear in this site's existing donor records. The disclosure regime did its job on the transaction
and tells you nothing about the interest being served.
**There is more of it earlier in the cycle.** The running total on the second row reads
**$8,756,000.00**, which implies a further **$2,756,000.00** from the same source on earlier reports.
## What the $6 million was spent on
The same report's $4,354,247.84 of independent expenditure supports [[Scott Perry]], Brandon Herrera,
Mike Beltran, [[Eli Crane]], David Flippo, Nicholas Begich and [[Lauren Boebert]] at roughly $360,000 to
$660,000 each, with matching oppose lines against their opponents — placed almost entirely through **PBK
Communications, LLC**. Details on [[Freedom Caucus Fund]].
## Open questions
- Who Michael T. Rydin is. This is the first question and it is unanswered.
- The $2,756,000.00 of earlier payments the running total implies.
- Whether the pre-general report shows a third payment.
