# Republican Main Street Partnership 2M Defending Main Street October 2026
On **e-file receipt date 2026-10-05**, twenty-nine days before the general election,
[[Defending Main Street Super PAC]] disclosed a **$2,000,000** receipt from
[[Republican Main Street Partnership]] and, in a separate filing received the same day, disclosed
**$1,065,368.80** of independent expenditures of which **$1,000,000** supports [[Jon Husted]] in
[[OH-Sen-2026-Special]].
Both ends of the transaction are on the FEC's wire on one day. That is unusual enough to be the reason
this page exists.

## Why it clears §7
Two independent grounds, either sufficient:
1. **An individual contribution of $1,000,000 or more.** $2,000,000 on a single itemised line.
2. **A dark-money grant to an electoral vehicle.** Republican Main Street Partnership is the
organisation; Defending Main Street Super PAC is the independent-expenditure committee. The grant is
the c4-to-super-PAC hop that §7 names explicitly.
It is **not** a §7.4a single buy. The Form 24 notice sums to $1,065,368.80, a tenth of the $10M floor.
## The address and the signature
> [!important] One address, one signer, both ends of the money
> **Republican Main Street Partnership and Defending Main Street Super PAC share a street address** —
> **411 New Jersey Avenue, SE, Washington, DC 20003** — read off the same document: the contributor's
> address in the Schedule A row and the filer's address in the Form 3X header of file 2016989 are the
> same line of text. **Sarah Chamberlain** signs the super PAC's report as treasurer.
>
> This is lawful and ordinary. A 501(c)(4) and an affiliated super PAC commonly share offices and
> officers, and the c4 may fund the super PAC without limit. What the arrangement means in practice is
> that the **$2,000,000 has a disclosed path for exactly one hop**: the super PAC names the c4, and the
> c4 names nobody. See [[Dark Money]].
## Reading the numbers honestly
- **The $2M and the $1M are not the same dollars, and the filings do not say they are.** The contribution
carries receipt date 2026-09-28; the Husted buy carries expenditure date 2026-10-05. The committee closed
September with **$542,852.82** on hand. A $2,000,000 receipt in the last days of September followed by a
$1,000,000 disbursement a week later is consistent with the grant funding the buy, and it is also
consistent with several other sequences. The page states the adjacency and stops there.
- **The aggregate column is not quoted as a total.** The
Mike Carey line's aggregate of $387,237.60 is not published here as any committee or race figure.
- **This is a first read of receipt date 2026-10-05.** Late arrival on
this feed has been measured at up to +24%. The two file-level figures above are read from the documents themselves and do
not move with the tranche, but the day's context does.
## Related spending in the same race
The same receipt date carried four other committees into [[OH-Sen-2026-Special]]:
[[Ohio Flyer PAC]] $383,754.00 against [[Sherrod Brown]] — **also through Strategic Media Placement Inc.**,
which is now load-bearing on two committees in one day — BlackPAC $455,100.00 supporting Brown,
Defend American Jobs $208,623.60 supporting Husted, and [[American Political Action Committee]]
$272,805.00 against Brown.
