> **On the threshold.** Deals design doc **§7** sets a **$1M** floor for an individual-contribution Deal.
> **No single receipt here reaches it** — the largest is $500,000. This is recorded as an **aggregate**
> Deal on the pattern of [[Adelson 2026 Cycle Megadonations Aggregate]] and
> [[Yass 2026 Cycle Federal Donations Aggregate]], because the three receipts run to a single committee
> in a single race and are plainly one funding relationship rather than three decisions. Read strictly,
> receipt by receipt, none of them clears the bar.
## Why it matters
**It is the money underneath a committee the vault had recorded as opaque.** Lone Star Liberty PAC spent
**$32.77 million** in the cycle against Paxton's rivals and then his Democratic opponent, and until this
was checked the vault's own page asserted that its donors were undisclosed. They are not. Knutz is the
largest of them.
**The donor has no prior history.** He has **no itemized federal contribution of $5,000 or more in the
2024 or 2022 cycles**. A seven-figure relationship with the decisive outside vehicle in a Senate race,
from someone who was not a large federal donor eighteen months earlier, is the kind of arrival that only
the filed record shows — there was no announcement.
**The reported figure understated it.** Press coverage of top Texas Senate donors put his Lone Star
Liberty giving at **$600,000**. The filed total is **$1.1 million**, because the reported number reflected
an earlier report. This is the same reported-versus-filed gap that runs through the whole TX-Sen money
picture, where a $10M announcement drew the coverage while a $32.8M committee did not.
**His entry point was not Republican.** Knutz's first large giving of the cycle, in January 2025, was
**$100,000 to Kennedy Victory Fund 2024** — [[Robert F. Kennedy Jr.]]'s joint fundraising committee with
the Libertarian National Committee, Mises PAC and seventeen state [[Libertarian Party]] affiliates — plus
**$41,300** directly to the Libertarian National Committee. The pivot to Paxton, the NRCC and Texas
begins two months later. See [[Jonathan Knutz]] for the full arc.
> [!warning] Do not sum his 81 receipts
> Knutz has 81 itemized 2026-cycle receipts totalling roughly $2.35M on their face. That total is
> **inflated by joint-fundraising double-counting** — victory funds appear once as the gift and again as
> allocations to each participant. The $1.1M recorded here is direct to a single committee and involves
> no intermediary, which is why it is the figure this Deal uses.
