## Nebraska is new here
This is the first appearance of **[[Defend American Jobs]]** in the Nebraska Senate race in this site's
record, and it is a large one: **$6.72 million against [[Dan Osborn]]** in a single notice, eighteen days
before the vote. Osborn is running as an independent against the incumbent **[[Pete Ricketts]]**, and the
race has already drawn **[[Nebraska Values PAC]]**, a committee funded from out of state that is spending
*against* Ricketts. The crypto network's money arrives on the other side of that.
The running-total column on the Nebraska lines reads $6,710,959.96, slightly *below* the sum of the two
rows it sits on. That column's meaning is set by the filer rather than by the form, so it is recorded here
and not used as a race total; the race figure above is the sum of the document's own lines.
## Why it matters
The Fairshake network's stated interest is digital-asset regulation, and its pattern this cycle has been
to spend heavily in a small number of races on both sides of the aisle. Nebraska has no obvious crypto
policy stake and no crypto-identified candidate. What it has is a three-way race in which an independent
has been polling competitively against a sitting Republican senator — which makes this buy read as a
decision about Senate control rather than about digital assets, and worth watching for whether a second
notice follows.
