# Defend American Jobs 12.1M Ohio Senate IE
On **October 1, 2026**, **Defend American Jobs** — the Republican-primary arm of the crypto industry's
[[Fairshake PAC]] network, FEC committee **C00836221** — disclosed **$12,121,214.69** of independent
expenditures in [[OH-Sen-2026-Special]], every dollar of it **supporting [[Jon Husted]]**. It is the
largest crypto-industry independent expenditure recorded in this vault and the second-largest single
Form 24 notice of the 2026 cycle after the [[Texas PAC 61.4M Texas Senate IE]] filing.

> [!note] On the §7.4a threshold
> Deals design doc **§7.4a** defines a single buy as a Form 24 notice whose Schedule E lines sum to $10M or
> more, whatever the line structure. This filing clears that twice over: the notice totals $12.12M, **and
> its largest single line is $11,343,601.80 on its own** — one of only a handful of individual Schedule E
> lines above $10M recorded anywhere in the 2026 cycle.
## The one-sided structure is the finding
Almost every large committee in this cycle splits a buy to the cent between supporting the Republican and
opposing the Democrat — [[Digital Freedom Fund]] did exactly that in this same race two days earlier, and
[[No Going Back PAC]] did it the day before that. **This notice does not.** All $12.12M is filed as
*support* for Husted, through a television buyer, with nothing pointed at Brown.
That is what an industry endorsement looks like rather than an opposition campaign: the crypto sector is
buying a senator it expects to vote its way, not litigating the Democrat. It also means the money is
legible as a positive ad spend to anyone watching Ohio television, which is a reputational choice as much
as a tactical one.
## The same seat, the same day, from the other side
Both halves of the Ohio Senate special filed on **October 1** for expenditures dated **September 29**:
| Committee | Amount | Direction | Vendor | File |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| **Defend American Jobs** ([[Fairshake PAC]]) | **$12,121,214.69** | support [[Jon Husted]] | Main Street Media Group, RBC Media LLC, Dockside Strategies LLC | 2016127 |
| **WinSenate** | **$5,033,439.93** | oppose [[Jon Husted]] | Waterfront Strategies | 2016120 |
| **SLF PAC** ([[Senate Leadership Fund]]) | **$494,725.82** | oppose [[Sherrod Brown]] | Whistlestop Strategies LLC | 2016104 |
**$17,649,380.44 into one Senate seat on one expenditure date from these three committees**, and $12.12M of
it — more than two thirds — came from the crypto industry rather than from either party's Senate committee.
Smaller lines from other committees push the full race-date figure a little higher. See
[[WinSenate 23.7M Senate Map IE October 2026]] for the other side of that day.
## Why it matters
**The industry outspent the party by 24 to 1 in this race on this date.** [[Senate Leadership Fund]]'s
Ohio channel put in $494,725.82. Defend American Jobs put in $12,121,214.69. Ohio is the first of the
eight races in [[SLF 342M Senate IE Reservation Program]] where an outside industry has become the
dominant pro-Republican spender rather than a supplement to the party's program.
**The donors are 2024 money, disclosed, and already in the vault.** Unlike [[Texas PAC]], Defend American
Jobs sits inside a network whose funders are known: the [[Fairshake PAC]] family reported **$193M in cash
on hand** as of January 2026, including **$25M from [[Coinbase]]**, **$25M from [[Ripple]]** and **$24M
from [[Andreessen Horowitz]]**. This is the first time this vault can trace that war chest to a specific
eight-figure buy in a specific Senate race.
**It is the second crypto vehicle in the same race.** [[Digital Freedom Fund]], the Winklevoss-seeded
committee, spent $2,970,198.67 on Ohio mail on 2026-09-30. Two separate crypto super PACs, two different
media — television and direct mail — pointed at the same seat within 72 hours.
> [!warning] This is a first read
> A figure derived on the day after a receipt date is a first read,
> not a closed count; late-arriving filings on a closed receipt date have run as high as **+24%**. The
> $12,121,214.69 is the full content of file 2016127 and is exact. The **$17,649,380.44 three-committee
> figure** above is a first read of receipt date 2026-10-01, is not the complete race-date total, and may
> rise as late filings post.
> [!note] A naming question this page does not settle
> "Defend American Jobs" is currently recorded in this vault as an **alias of [[Fairshake PAC]]**, which is
> why the links above point there. With $23.58M of its own election-to-date independent expenditures under
> its own committee ID, that arrangement is arguably no longer accurate — but splitting it into its own page
> means removing the alias from [[Fairshake PAC]], which is an alias-policy decision rather than a sweep
> edit. Flagged, not taken.
