# Taiwan Anduril Altius Drone Contract
On **August 27, 2026**, [[Taiwan]]'s Ministry of National Defense posted, through the government
e-procurement system, a contract worth approximately **NT$26.9 billion (~US$847 million)** for
**2,032 [[Anduril Altius]] airframes** — **1,554 Altius-700M** loitering munitions and
**478 Altius-600ISR** reconnaissance drones — plus launch equipment and associated systems. First
deliveries are expected in **Q4 2026**; the full order completes by **June 2033**. The systems go to
Taiwanese Army units dedicated to drone warfare, supporting strike, ISR, target designation and
electronic-warfare missions.
> **This is a signed contract with a delivery schedule, not an approval ceiling.** It is the opposite
> case from [[Anduril Kuwait Counter-UAS FMS Approval]], where a $1.98B State Department notification
> authorized a sale that has not been negotiated. Here the money, the quantities and the dates are
> committed. It should be read as booked backlog, not as demand signal.

## Why it matters
**It is the largest Anduril export order on record.** At ~$847M it exceeds the $363M CBP Sentry
tower award and every other disclosed Anduril contract except the A$1.7B Australian
[[Anduril Ghost Shark]] program. For a private company whose valuation case rests on displacing
legacy primes, an international customer committing near a billion dollars on a seven-year schedule
is a different quality of evidence than a domestic sole-source award.
**Taiwan bought the variant that failed in Ukraine.** The bulk of the order — 1,554 of 2,032
airframes — is the **Altius-700M**, the heavier-warhead strike variant of the family whose earlier
600M model Ukrainian SBU forces **suspended in 2024** after repeated crashes and missed targets
caused by Russian electronic warfare. That failure is the single largest public black mark on
Anduril's combat record and is documented on [[Anduril Altius]]. Taiwan is betting, at scale and with
its own money, that the EW vulnerability has been engineered out. **First deliveries in Q4 2026 are
the first test of that bet**, and Taiwan's own procurement notice lists electronic-warfare missions
among the intended uses.
**The delivery tail is the risk.** Completion in **June 2033** means roughly $120M of revenue a year
and — more consequentially — that Anduril's largest export relationship is a seven-year commitment
to a customer whose sovereignty is the most likely trigger for a US–China war. A cross-strait crisis
before 2033 does not merely interrupt the contract; it converts it into a wartime supply obligation.
This is the asymmetric-defense logic the U.S. has pushed on Taipei — flooding the strait with cheap
autonomous munitions — arriving as a private-company balance-sheet item.
**Beijing has already sanctioned the counterparty.** China sanctioned both [[Anduril]] and
[[Palmer Luckey]] personally over the earlier Taiwan sales. This contract is roughly an order of
magnitude larger than the deal that triggered those sanctions.
## Context — what this follows
This is Taiwan's **second** and much larger Altius purchase. The first was a June 2024 Foreign
Military Sale of **291 Altius-600M** units; deliveries began August 2025 and the final batch arrived
in **March 2026**. The new contract is roughly **seven times** that quantity and moves the
relationship from an FMS case brokered by Washington to a direct procurement posted by Taipei.
## Collection note
The primary source is the Taiwan MND e-procurement posting as reported by *Taiwan News* on
August 27; that page is not fetchable from the build environment, so the figures here rest on four
independent secondary reports that agree on quantity, split, value and dates.
