# DOD Hypersonic Missile Production Agreement
In May 2026, the [[Department of Defense]] entered an agreement with [[Anduril]], [[CoAspire]], [[Leidos]], and [[Zone 5]] to procure more than 10,000 low-cost hypersonic missiles over the following three years. This is a volume-attritable approach distinct from legacy expensive-missile procurement programs.
## Significance
Strategic signal that the Pentagon is shifting toward mass-producible, attritable munitions and away from exquisite low-quantity systems. The multi-vendor structure (with [[Anduril]] alongside legacy prime [[Leidos]] and emerging entrants) is unusual and indicates DOD willingness to break the traditional duopoly hold on missile production. Significant escalation in [[Anduril]]'s positioning as a true prime contractor.
