# Countries Hub The **canonical country layer**. Each page here owns the bare name of a sovereign state and is the default target when prose links that bare name. The vault keeps three distinct records per country, and the distinction is the whole point of this folder: | Layer | Folder | Title form | Covers | |---|---|---|---| | **Country** | `/Countries/` | bare name — [[Russia]] | the state itself; the default link target | | **Influence** | `/Foreign Influence/` | adjectival — [[Russian Influence]] | its operations directed at the United States | | **History** | `/Subjects/History/World History/` | adjectival hub — [[Russian History Hub]] | its past | Before this layer existed, the bare name was claimed inconsistently: mostly by the influence page, sometimes by a history MOC, once by `/Concepts/`. A link about a 2026 election could land on a page about lobbying, or on a table of contents about the nineteenth century. > [!note] The rule > Only a country page may hold a bare country name as its title, and **no other page may claim one as an alias**. Country-name variants — `Türkiye`, `DPRK`, `Kingdom of Spain` — belong here too. ## Countries - [[Albania]] - [[Argentina]] - [[Armenia]] - [[Australia]] - [[Azerbaijan]] - [[Bahrain]] - [[Belarus]] - [[Brazil]] - [[Burkina Faso]] - [[Canada]] - [[Central African Republic]] - [[China]] - [[Colombia]] - [[Cuba]] - [[Democratic Republic of the Congo]] - [[Egypt]] - [[Eritrea]] - [[Estonia]] - [[Ethiopia]] - [[France]] - [[Georgia (country)]] - [[Germany]] - [[Greece]] - [[Hungary]] - [[India]] - [[Iran]] - [[Iraq]] - [[Israel]] - [[Italy]] - [[Japan]] - [[Kazakhstan]] - [[Kuwait]] - [[Kyrgyzstan]] - [[Latvia]] - [[Libya]] - [[Lithuania]] - [[Mali]] - [[Mexico]] - [[Moldova]] - [[Niger]] - [[North Korea]] - [[Qatar]] - [[Russia]] - [[Rwanda]] - [[Saudi Arabia]] - [[Serbia]] - [[South Africa]] - [[South Korea]] - [[Spain]] - [[Sudan]] - [[Syria]] - [[Taiwan]] - [[Tajikistan]] - [[Turkey]] - [[Turkmenistan]] - [[Ukraine]] - [[United Arab Emirates]] - [[United Kingdom]] - [[Uzbekistan]] - [[Venezuela]] ## Regional comparisons - [[Post-Soviet States]] — the fifteen former Soviet republics, scored by where each stands with Moscow - [[Africa]] — the continent-level page ## Breakaway and disputed territories - [[Abkhazia]] — breakaway region of Georgia; Russian base at Gudauta; recognized by four states - [[South Ossetia]] — breakaway region of Georgia; signed a 2026 treaty merging policy with Russia - [[Transnistria]] — unrecognized breakaway region of Moldova, held with a Russian garrison ## Not in this folder - **[[Soviet Union]]** — dissolved 1991; filed with [[Russian History Hub]] as a former state. ## See Also - [[World History Hub]]
