# Reality Distortion
Originally coined to describe [[Steve Jobs]]'s "reality distortion field" — his ability to convince himself and those around him that the impossible was achievable through sheer charisma, conviction, and selective framing. More broadly, the term names the capacity of charismatic leaders to bend others' perception of facts and feasibility to their will.
In the Right Wing KB it is a lens for analyzing how charismatic and authoritarian figures construct an alternative consensus reality for followers, overlapping with propaganda, gaslighting, and the manufacture of consent.
