# Anduril Lattice
[[Anduril]]'s core software platform — the AI-powered command and control operating system that connects every product the company makes. Lattice integrates thousands of sensors, effectors, networks, and mission systems into a single AI-driven battle management layer, compressing kill chains to machine speed while maintaining human authorization for lethal decisions.
## What It Does
Lattice is a software-defined operating system for autonomous military operations. It fuses sensor data from diverse sources (radar, infrared, electro-optical, signals intelligence), uses AI-driven analytics and computer vision to detect, track, and classify threats, automates fire control decisions, and manages networks of autonomous assets (drones, interceptors, jammers, undersea vehicles) from a single operator interface.
Key capabilities include mesh networking across distributed sensors and effectors, autonomy-enhanced fire control, distributed tracking, kill-chain optimization, and the ability to integrate new sensors and effectors within hours rather than months. During a seven-day trial at Yuma Proving Ground, Arizona, Lattice integrated a previously undisclosed sensor and effector within hours and achieved four out of four live-fire intercepts.
The architecture supports what Anduril calls a "distributed defense model" — multiple sensors and interceptors from different vendors operating within a single networked system, managed by a single operator. This is designed to address the core challenge of modern drone warfare: a single operator needs to manage dozens of simultaneous threats using systems from multiple manufacturers.
## Who Uses It
### U.S. Army
Lattice is the core platform of the $20B Army enterprise agreement (March 2026), which consolidated 120+ separate procurement pathways into a single framework. Selected for the Army's Integrated Battle Command System-Maneuver (IBCS-M) program (November 2025), providing the command, control, and integration backbone for counter-drone operations. Early use focused on counter-UAS and joint interoperability.
### JIATF-401
Selected as the enterprise tactical C2 platform for counter-UAS operations. First task order: $87M under the Army enterprise agreement.
### SOCOM
Central to the $1B IDIQ contract (10-year) for counter-drone hardware and software, plus the $86M "Mission Autonomy Systems Integration Partner" contract.
### Other Branches
Marine Corps (via counter-drone systems), [[Air Force]] (Fury CCA integration), Navy (undersea vehicle control).
### International
Allies in Europe and the Indo-Pacific are slated to receive Lattice-based systems. Australian Ghost Shark program runs on Lattice AI/ML framework.
### Thunderforge Program
Lattice is a component of the DOD's Thunderforge AI program alongside [[Scale AI]] and Microsoft, designed to integrate AI into military operational and theater-level planning for INDOPACOM and EUCOM.
## Comparison to [[Palantir]]
Lattice occupies a similar architectural position to [[Palantir Gotham]] + [[Palantir AIP]] — it's the software brain that makes everything else work. But there's a critical difference in scope:
Palantir's platforms are primarily *analytical* — they help humans observe, orient, and decide. Lattice is designed to close the full OODA loop — observe, orient, decide, and *act* — by directly controlling autonomous systems that execute decisions. Where Palantir shows an analyst a target on a screen, Lattice can direct an [[Anduril Anvil]] interceptor to destroy that target autonomously (with human authorization).
Both companies are now converging: Palantir is adding autonomous control capabilities, and Anduril is adding analytical depth. The $20B Army contract and the $10B Palantir Army contract are complementary, not competitive — they interoperate.
## Controversies
Lattice itself is less controversial than the weapons it controls, but it raises fundamental questions:
1. **Machine-speed kill chains:** The explicit design goal is to compress decision cycles to speeds faster than human cognition. When a system is designed to operate at "machine speed," how meaningful is "human-in-the-loop" authorization?
2. **Single point of control:** A single software platform controlling diverse autonomous weapons creates both efficiency and risk — if Lattice is compromised, the entire weapons network is compromised.
3. **Vendor lock-in:** The $20B Army enterprise agreement centers the entire Army counter-drone architecture on a single startup's proprietary platform. This is an enormous amount of dependency on one company.
