# Vantor The former Maxar Intelligence — the dominant commercial satellite-imagery supplier to the US intelligence community. Maxar Technologies was taken private by [[Advent International]] ($6.4B, May 2023) and split; on October 1, 2025 the imagery business rebranded as Vantor (CEO Dan Smoot) while the manufacturing side became [[Lanteris Space Systems]]. Vantor holds the majority share of the [[NRO]]'s Electro-Optical Commercial Layer (EOCL) contract — up to $3.24B over ten years, the NRO's largest-ever commercial imagery buy, shared with [[Planet Labs]] and BlackSky. Its WorldView Legion constellation (six satellites, 2024–2026) is being followed by next-generation Vantage (20cm-class) and Pulse (40cm high-revisit) fleets, with BAE Systems building the Vantage buses (announced June 2026). The vault-relevant hook is the [[Anduril]] partnership: Vantor supplies foundational 3D geospatial intelligence, integrated into Anduril's Lattice, for the Army's Soldier-Borne Mission Command mixed-reality program — commercial imagery flowing directly into the [[Defense Tech Ecosystem]]'s targeting-and-awareness stack. Vantor also partners with Saab and Taiwan's AIDC on its Raptor product, and won an NGA AI change-detection contract in late 2025. Sector-wide, Trump's FY2026 budget proposed cutting NRO commercial imagery purchases by up to a third — six imagery operators petitioned Congress, and House Intelligence moved to restore the funds; the outcome remains unresolved. A private-equity-owned company holding the IC's eyes, squeezed between budget politics and growing military demand, is the sector's defining tension. ## See Also - [[Lanteris Space Systems]] — the other half of Maxar · [[Planet Labs]] · [[NRO]] · [[NGA]] - [[Anduril]] · [[Defense Tech Ecosystem]] - [[Commercial Space Sector]] — sector context
