# TAE Technologies
Aneutronic fusion company based in Foothill Ranch, California, founded in April 1998 as Tri Alpha Energy — the name taken from the three alpha particles produced by hydrogen-boron fusion. It has built five national-laboratory-scale devices over its history and is one of the oldest and best-capitalized private fusion ventures. See [[Nuclear Fusion]] for the physics.
It is in the KB for one reason: in December 2025 TAE signed a definitive all-stock merger agreement with [[Trump Media and Technology Group]] valued above $6 billion, which would make it one of the first publicly traded fusion companies — see [[Trump Media-TAE Technologies Merger]]. As of an August 10, 2026 filing the Form S-4 had still not been filed.
A 28-year-old fusion research company reaching the public markets through a Trump-family media shell rather than a conventional IPO is a statement about how capital is actually flowing to deep tech under this administration.
> Status: stub — expand with the funding history, the device generations, and the merger's regulatory path.
