# Rauma Marine Constructions **Rauma Marine Constructions Oy** is a Finnish shipbuilder in Rauma, Finland, and one of three yards awarded work under the [[United States Coast Guard]]'s Arctic Security Cutter program. Finland is among the world's leading builders of icebreakers, which is the stated rationale for routing U.S. hulls there. On **December 29, 2025** the Coast Guard awarded Rauma a contract for **up to two Arctic Security Cutters**, finalized in **July 2026** at roughly **$1.1 billion**, with first delivery expected in **2028** — ahead of the first domestically built hull. The Coast Guard framed the arrangement as taking "immediate advantage of our Finnish partners' icebreaker expertise while coordinating the on-shoring of that expertise in the United States in the long run." The award was made without competitive bidding.
