# Pan Am Systems **Pan Am Systems** is the transportation holding company founded by [[Tim Mellon]] (unrelated to the former Pan American World Airways, whose name and brand Mellon acquired). It owned and operated freight railroads in the northeastern United States and was, for years, the principal operating business under Mellon control within the [[Scaife-Mellon Family]].
