# PPL Electric Utilities
**Status: stub.** Pennsylvania electric distribution utility serving roughly 1.5 million customers across central and eastern Pennsylvania, regulated by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
PPL enters this wiki through the data-center cost-shift fight. In October 2026 the Pennsylvania Office of Consumer Advocate filed a complaint arguing that PPL's rate structure, service classifications and interconnection procedures do not protect existing customers from costs caused by large AI data centers, or from supply shortfalls if demand outruns generation. Governor [[Josh Shapiro]] petitioned to intervene in that docket on 2026-10-16 — the first time in at least fifteen years a Pennsylvania governor has sought party status in a PUC proceeding.
