# Oracle Health **Oracle Health** is [[Oracle Corporation]]'s healthcare division, built on its **June 2022 acquisition of Cerner** for roughly $28 billion — one of the largest health-IT deals ever. Cerner is one of the two dominant electronic-health-record (EHR) vendors in the U.S. (with Epic), making Oracle a major owner of clinical data infrastructure and a key Big Tech presence in the [[Healthcare Industry Ecosystem]]. The unit reports up through co-CEO [[Mike Sicilia]], who ran Oracle Industries before his 2025 promotion. See [[Big Tech]] and [[Amazon Health]]. ## The VA contract Oracle Health's defining federal engagement is the [[Department of Veterans Affairs]]' Electronic Health Record Modernization program, inherited from Cerner's 2018 sole-source award of ~$10B over ten years. The system's first go-live at Spokane's Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in October 2020 was followed by patient-safety failures, a 2023 deployment pause, and a 2025 restart under Secretary [[Doug Collins]]. With 14 of 164 medical centers live and the contract ceiling about to be exhausted, the VA modified the contract on August 18, 2026 — adding ~$17B and three option years for a ceiling just under $27B and a May 2031 end date — and re-justified sole-sourcing to Oracle after nominally evaluating Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth and Veradigm. The VA's own lifecycle estimate is now ~$48B. The [[House Veterans' Affairs Committee]] subpoenaed [[Larry Ellison]] and Sicilia on September 15, 2026 after Oracle Health EVP Seema Verma withdrew from testifying.
