# Oculus
Virtual-reality headset company founded by [[Palmer Luckey]], who built early Rift prototypes as a teenager. Acquired by Facebook (later Meta) in March 2014 for roughly $2 billion. The acquisition made Luckey wealthy; after he was pushed out of Facebook in 2017 he founded the defense-tech company [[Anduril]] — making Oculus the gaming-hardware origin point of one of the most prominent careers in the [[Defense Tech Ecosystem]]. See [[Games and the Tech Elite]].
