# General Matter American nuclear-fuel startup founded in 2024 to rebuild domestic uranium enrichment, focused on high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) for advanced reactors and on reducing U.S. dependence on Russian supply. It was co-founded by Scott Nolan — a former SpaceX engineer and [[Founders Fund]] partner — with Lee Robinson, and raised a $50M Series A led by Founders Fund, with [[Peter Thiel]] joining the board. The Department of Energy selected it in October 2024 as one of four HALEU enrichment providers; it leased part of the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant in August 2025 and received a ~$900M DOE enrichment contract in January 2026. In the KB it figures as the nuclear-fuel node of the Founders Fund / Thiel-orbit defense-and-energy portfolio (see [[Peter Thiel News Log]]). > [!note] Stub > Minimum-viable page created to resolve inbound links.
