# Foxconn **Stub.** Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry), founded 1974 and headquartered in Taiwan, is the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer — the company that assembles a huge share of the world's consumer electronics, most famously the iPhone, at vast plants in mainland China. It is emblematic of the globalized assembly leg of the [[Supply Chain]]: low-margin, labor-intensive final assembly concentrated in China, drawing scrutiny over working conditions (the Longhua "suicide nets" episode) and, more recently, over diversification of assembly to India and Vietnam amid [[Tech Decoupling]]. The much-touted Wisconsin plant (2017) became a cautionary tale of unmet manufacturing-reshoring promises. ## See Also - [[Supply Chain]] · [[Tech Decoupling]] - [[Apple]]
