# Entain
**Entain plc** is the London-listed gambling group behind Ladbrokes, Coral, bwin, partypoker and a long list of other brands, and the 50% owner of [[BetMGM]]. It was called **GVC Holdings** until December 2020, when shareholders approved the new name. For the KB it matters for two reasons: it owns half of the one big U.S. sportsbook that refused to enter prediction markets, and it paid £615 million to settle a UK bribery prosecution.
## The business
Entain's Q1 2026 trading update lists its brands: in sports, BetCity, bwin, Coral, Crystalbet, Eurobet, Ladbrokes, Neds, Sportingbet, Sports Interaction, STS and SuperSport; in gaming, Foxy Bingo, Gala, GiocoDigitale, Ninja Casino, Optibet, partypoker and PartyCasino. In the U.S. it owns BetMGM jointly with [[MGM Resorts International]] and supplies its technology.
**Leadership.** Stella David became interim CEO in February 2025, after Gavin Isaacs left following about five months in the job, and was made permanent on **April 29, 2025**. She has been on the board since 2021.
## The bribery settlement
On **December 5, 2023**, a judge at Southwark Crown Court approved a **deferred prosecution agreement** between Entain and the Crown Prosecution Service. The agreement covers the corporate offence of failing to prevent bribery, under Section 7 of the UK Bribery Act 2010. The conduct ran from **July 2011 to December 2017** and was mostly in GVC's former Turkish-facing business, which it sold in 2017.
| Component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Financial penalty and disgorgement of profits | £585 million |
| Charitable donation | £20 million |
| CPS and HMRC costs | £10 million |
| **Total** | **£615 million** |
Payments are spread over the four-year term of the agreement. The court gave Entain full credit for cooperating. Entain's chairman described it as a matter concerning a business sold by former management.
## On prediction markets
In October 2025 David said she believes U.S. prediction markets are operating illegally and that "in regulated markets, sportsbook offering is highly superior to what prediction markets are currently offering." She deferred to BetMGM CEO [[Adam Greenblatt]], who had called sports event contracts "in essence, illegal sports betting." The cost has shown up in Entain's numbers: BetMGM cut its 2026 guidance twice, and Entain shares fell after the July 2026 cut, which BetMGM blamed partly on prediction-market competition.
