# Erebor Dossier
Front door for the [[Erebor]] document collection. Erebor is the first **finance-sector** company on the Tier 1 super-watch list. The canonical company record stays at [[Erebor]] in `/Companies/`; this folder (`/Companies/Docs/Erebor/`) holds the deeper material.
**Why Tier 1:** Erebor is the one institution where two of [[Peter Thiel]]'s most important protégés, [[Palmer Luckey]] and [[Joe Lonsdale]], co-founded the same company. Each of them otherwise anchors his own corner of the [[Thiel Network]]: Luckey has [[Anduril]], and Lonsdale has [[Palantir]] and [[8VC]]. Erebor is also the network's **money layer**. It holds deposits for, and increasingly lends to, the same defense, AI and crypto companies that [[Founders Fund]], 8VC and [[Lux Capital]] fund. And it is a federally chartered, FDIC-insured bank, so its failure would be a public problem in a way a failed defense startup would not be.
**Boundary rule:** documents internal to the company live here: its people, its cap table, its loan book and its regulatory filings. Records that cut across companies keep their own canonical homes and are **linked** from here: funding rounds and loans go in `/Deals/`, discrete events in `/Events/`. One fact, one home. **Lane rule:** what Erebor *did* as a company goes in the [[Erebor Watch Log]]. What Luckey or Lonsdale *said, funded or was investigated for* personally stays in the [[Palmer Luckey News Log]] and the [[Joe Lonsdale News Log]].
> **Bank-specific note:** Erebor is private, so it files no proxy or earnings report. But as a national bank it must file a **quarterly call report** with federal regulators, which makes its balance sheet more visible than almost any private company's. That filing is the backbone of this dossier: [[Erebor Call Reports]].

## Document backlog — what to collect next
- The **Q3 2026 call report** (as of Sept 30). It is the first that covers a full quarter after the Valar facility, and the first test of whether the bank lends at scale.
- A digest of the 2026 funding round once it closes, with the lead, final valuation and new board seats.
- The full text of Erebor's **OCC conditional-approval letter** and conditions. The public release lists none; the 12% leverage condition is known only through FT reporting.
- Erebor's replies to [[Elizabeth Warren]]'s February and April 2026 letters, if they ever become public.
- A borrower list: any Anduril supplier, 8VC or Founders Fund portfolio company, or crypto market-maker that turns up as a borrower.
- The status of the Venezuela correspondent-banking talks.
