# DigitalBridge
A global investment firm focused exclusively on digital infrastructure. DigitalBridge invests in and operates data centers, cell towers, fiber networks, small cells, and edge computing infrastructure worldwide. Headquartered in Boca Raton, FL and listed on the NYSE as DBRG, the firm managed approximately $108 billion in assets as of late 2025.
## History
Marc Ganzi founded Digital Bridge Holdings in 2013 as a digital infrastructure investment platform. In 2019 it merged into Colony Capital, the diversified real-estate firm founded in 1991. Under Ganzi's leadership as CEO starting in 2020, the combined entity pivoted aggressively away from legacy real estate and toward digital infrastructure. The corporate rebrand from Colony Capital to DigitalBridge became effective June 22, 2021.
## Key Portfolio Companies
DigitalBridge's portfolio spans the full stack of digital infrastructure:
- **[[Vantage Data Centers]]** — Hyperscale data center operator across North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.
- **DataBank** — Edge infrastructure platform operating colocation, interconnection, and managed services across 65+ markets in the U.S.
- **Scala Data Centers** — Latin America's largest independent data center platform, headquartered in Brazil.
- **Yondr Group** — Hyperscale data center developer operating globally.
## SoftBank Acquisition
In December 2025, [[SoftBank]] entered a definitive agreement to acquire DigitalBridge for $16.00 per share in cash, representing a total enterprise value of approximately $4 billion. Stockholders approved the deal in April 2026 with roughly 96% of votes in favor. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2026. After closing, DigitalBridge will continue operating as a separately managed platform under Marc Ganzi. The acquisition positions [[SoftBank]] to build, scale, and finance foundational infrastructure for next-generation AI services — a strategic complement to SoftBank's anchor role in the [[Stargate Project]].
## KB Relevance
DigitalBridge is essentially a private equity firm for the physical layer of the internet. As AI workloads drive massive demand for data center capacity, the firm sits at the center of the capital flows connecting institutional investors to AI infrastructure buildout. The [[SoftBank]] acquisition signals consolidation in this space — the same players behind the [[Stargate Project]] are now vertically integrating from chips and models down into the infrastructure investment layer.
