# Alabama U.S. Senate 2026 ## Snapshot **Settled June 16: [[Barry Moore]] (R) vs. [[Everett Wess]] (D)** for the seat [[Tommy Tuberville]] is leaving to run for governor. Moore, the Trump-endorsed AL-01 congressman, led the May 19 primary with 39.2% but was forced to a runoff by former Navy SEAL Jared Hudson (25.6%), who edged AG [[Steve Marshall]] (24.5%) for the second slot; Marshall conceded. **Moore won the runoff 55.8–44.2** after a final week in which a "stolen valor" ad attacked his National Guard record. Wess, a Birmingham attorney, won the Democratic runoff 54.6–45.4 over Dakarai Larriett. Solid R: outside Doug Jones's 2017–2021 term, Republicans have held the seat for thirty years. ## Departing incumbent - **[[Tommy Tuberville]]** (R) — senator since 2021; running for governor to succeed the term-limited Kay Ivey. ## How the nominations were decided ### Republican primary (May 19) and runoff (June 16) | Candidate | May 19 | June 16 runoff | |---|---|---| | **Barry Moore** | 39.2% (189,067) | **55.8%** (173,418) | | Jared Hudson | 25.6% (123,672) | 44.2% (137,340) | | Steve Marshall | 24.5% (118,361) | — (conceded) | - **[[Barry Moore]]** — U.S. Representative AL-01 (previously AL-02) from Enterprise; former state representative; Alabama Army National Guard 1988–1991 and Army IRR 1991–1997, retired E-6 with no combat deployment — the basis of the runoff's "stolen valor" attack. Trump-endorsed January 17. Ran on a congressional stock-trading ban, border security and the debt. $2.50M raised pre-runoff. - **Jared Hudson** — Navy SEAL veteran and businessman; $1.54M raised. Marshall's institutional network did not transfer to him. ### Democratic primary and runoff | Candidate | May 19 | June 16 runoff | |---|---|---| | **Everett Wess** | 39.8% (132,373) | **54.6%** (50,229) | | Dakarai Larriett | 28.9% (96,307) | 45.4% (41,779) | Wess — Birmingham attorney and repeat candidate — ran on public safety and the federal minimum wage. ## General election Moore vs. Wess. Compare Alme's 76% in Montana, where the endorsement wall was total. - **Marshall's exit** ends his AG tenure in January 2027 with no landing; the anti-ESG and election-litigation portfolio he built moves to his successor. - **AL-01** is now an open deep-red House seat — the secondary MAGA-vs-establishment story. - **Wess's 54.6%** is the Democratic primary electorate's choice of a conventional candidate over an insurgent (Larriett) — the opposite of Oklahoma, the same weekend. ## Related KB entities - [[Tommy Tuberville]] · [[Barry Moore]] · [[Everett Wess]] · [[Steve Marshall]] - [[MAGA]] · [[Donald Trump]] ## Content leads - **Data**: Trump 2026 Senate-primary endorsement scorecard — Moore (runoff), Alme (outright), Hern (outright), Paxton (runoff), Rounds (outright). ## Outside spending ### Outside-money log — FEC Form 24 notices ### Receipt date 2026-10-07 — [[High Plains PAC]] $265,000.00 for [[Barry Moore]] | Committee | File | Amount | Direction | Payees | |---|---|---|---|---| | **[[High Plains PAC]]** | **2017699** | **$265,000.00** | support [[Barry Moore]] | [[Advocacy Architects]] | | [[AB PAC]] | 2018051 | $158,498.72 | AL House, **support** | [[AdQuick]] / [[Lamar Companies]] | **Derived total: $423,498.72.** 🔴 **Alabama is not a competitive Senate race.** $265,000 of positive spending in a safe seat, from a Wyoming-branded super PAC funded **90.8% by one Wyoming 501(c)(4)** ([[Senate Opportunity Fund]]), on a **100%-support, round-number, single-vendor** notice covering four states.
