Missouri's 2nd District takes in parts of St. Louis, St. Charles and Warren counties and all of Franklin County. Republican Rep. **Ann Wagner** had held it since 2013. Republicans had held the seat since early 1993, after Jim Talent beat Democrat Joan Kelly Horn in 1992. The 2026 race was run on Missouri's 2022 congressional map: Republicans redrew the state's map in 2025 to target the Kansas City seat, but the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against using it this year (St. Louis Public Radio). See [[Redistricting Timeline 2025-2026]]. Democrat **[[Fred Wellman]]**, host of the MeidasTouch network podcast "On Democracy," ran on workers' rights, a higher federal minimum wage, paid family leave, restoring Affordable Care Act subsidies and opposition to the war with Iran (St. Louis Public Radio). ## Result > [!success] Fred Wellman (D) wins, a Democratic pickup > [[Fred Wellman]] defeated Ann Wagner, 51 percent to 46 percent, on November 3, 2026, St. Louis Public Radio, KOMU and KMOV reported; it is the first Democratic win in the seat since 1990. The reports do not name which decision desk called the race. Vote totals are unofficial until Missouri certifies the result.
